Frequently Asked Questions

Heavy Duty Towing Questions

How much does heavy duty towing cost in Wichita Falls?

Published rate sheets show heavy hook-ups around $450 plus about $9.50 to $10 per mile, recovery with a heavy wrecker around $350 to $850 per hour, and rotators around $790 to $1,500 per hour. Your price depends on the unit, the scene and the distance. We give a written estimate.

How fast can you get to me?

The dispatcher gives you an honest arrival estimate on the call, based on where you are and what equipment you need. We do not promise a number before we know your location.

What do I need to tell dispatch?

Road, direction and mile marker or exit; unit type and weight class; whether it is loaded and with what, including hazmat; what is wrong; and who is paying: driver, fleet, insurer or broker.

Can you tow a loaded semi?

Yes. Tell us what is on board and the gross weight. Sometimes the load has to be transferred first, and we plan for that before the unit is lifted.

Do you recover trucks off lease roads and pastures?

Yes. Winch outs and oilfield truck recovery are a regular part of the work in this region, from soft shoulders to lease roads and field edges.

Which highways do you cover?

I-44 from Wichita Falls to the Red River, U.S. 287, 277, 281 and 82, and the state and farm roads around Wichita, Archer, Clay and Wilbarger counties.

Heavy Duty Towing Questions

What weight can you tow?

We handle heavy and medium duty units. Give dispatch the unit type and gross weight, and whether it is loaded, so the right wrecker is sent.

Do you tow buses with passengers?

Passengers should be moved to a safe place first. Once the bus is empty and secured, we tow it. For a stranded group, tell dispatch how many people are aboard.

Can my fleet get an itemized invoice?

Yes. Hook-up, mileage, time, extra equipment and storage are listed separately, and insurers and fleets get it in writing.

Do you tow at night and on holidays?

Dispatch answers 24/7. After-hours rates can apply, and the dispatcher will tell you.

18 Wheeler Towing Questions

Can you tow a tractor and loaded trailer together?

Yes, if the weight fits the wrecker we send. Tell dispatch the gross weight and what is on board. Some loads need to be split.

What if I just have a flat tire?

We send a service truck when the tire can be changed safely on scene. If not, we tow.

I am on I-44 near the Red River. Can you reach me?

Give dispatch the direction and mile marker or exit. The dispatcher gives an honest arrival estimate once they know where you are.

Can you handle a reefer with perishable freight?

Tell us on the first call. It affects how fast the job moves and whether the cargo needs to be transferred.

Oilfield Truck Recovery Questions

Can you reach trucks on lease roads?

Usually, yes. Tell dispatch the lease name, county road, gate and nearest town. If the road will not hold a heavy wrecker, we plan a different approach.

What if my tank truck is leaking?

Tell dispatch right away what is in the tank and how much. A leak changes the plan, and the operator may need to be notified.

Who pays on an oilfield recovery?

It varies: the driver, the trucking company, the operator or an insurer. Tell dispatch who to invoice.

Do you recover rolled vacuum trucks?

Yes. Rollovers need uprighting equipment and careful rigging, especially when the tank is loaded.

Winch Outs Questions

Is a winch out cheaper than a tow?

Often, because it is a shorter job. But an involved pull can run by the hour. Dispatch will tell you which it sounds like.

Can you pull a loaded trailer?

Yes, if the wrecker and line are rated for the weight. Tell us the gross weight.

Should I keep trying to drive out?

No. Spinning wheels dig the unit in deeper and can damage the drive line. Stop, set the brakes and call.

Do you pull trucks out of ditches along U.S. 287?

Yes. Give dispatch the direction and mile marker or the nearest town so we know which side of the road you are on.

RV Towing Questions

Can you tow a Class A motorhome?

Yes. A Class A is a heavy tow. Give dispatch the length and weight if you know them.

Can we ride along?

Policies on riding in the tow truck vary by unit and insurer. Ask dispatch, and plan for a ride or a shuttle to a motel.

What if I am towing a car behind my motorhome?

Tell dispatch. The car may need a second unit or a separate hook-up.

Does my RV insurance cover the tow?

Many policies and roadside plans include it. Have the claim number or plan information handy.

Heavy Equipment Transport Questions

Can you haul a machine that will not start?

Yes. It can be winched onto the trailer. Tell us if the brakes are locked or the tracks are seized.

Do I need a permit?

If the load is over legal width, height or weight, yes. We tell you early so the move is planned correctly.

What information do you need for a quote?

Type, operating weight, dimensions with attachments, current location, destination and whether it runs.

Can you pick up from a job site with soft ground?

Usually. We may need a winch out first or matting. Tell dispatch about the ground conditions.
